Presently, I’m working on a fairly lazy custom of the character I’m currently playing in my friends’ D&D Forgotten Realms campaign. “Magnus Stoneface” is a Chaotic Good Illuskan War Domain Cleric of Tyr from the northern Sword Coast, who lives to praise his deity and smite things, and not necessarily in that order. Despite what his surname might suggest, he is not actually grim or taciturn at all but is instead irrepressibly cheerful (“Stoneface” is actually an epithet commemorating a Minotaur rolling a critical fail on a headbutt against him). Fully committed to the idea that his life is forfeit to the demands of his religious vocation, Magnus has no fear of death whatsoever and throws himself into each new encounter, whether haggling with goblin merchants or facing down undead hordes, with a relentless enthusiasm that some of his companions actually find rather disturbing. Basically, he’s a younger version of Sgt. Farrell from the Tom Cruise mil-sci-fi actioner Edge of Tomorrow.
Anyway, the Boss Fight “Knight of Accord” is the base body, with their “Knights and Kings” character-builder kit shield in “Obsidian Black” and a 6”x1” strip of black cloth tucked through his waist armour for a clerical surplice. The Marvel Universe Infinite Thunderstrike mace is currently serving as the traditional Cleric’s weapon, and the Jakks Pacific “Build ‘n Brawl” Triple H headsculpt is standing in until I can find another male headsculpt with long blond hair that looks a little happier (eventually he’ll get a crossbow and quiver of bolts from the “Elves” character-builder set to supplement his weaponry, as per the starting equipment for 5e Clerics): What I really need to do now, is to paint the rim of the shield in the same shade of gold as the trim on the figure’s armour, and to find some way of creating a custom heraldic device for the shield. Since Magnus’s patron deity is Tyr, and Tyr is most well-known for losing his hand to the wolf Fenris, my hope is to find some way of turning this version of the Isengard sigil from Lord of the Rings into some sort of applicable decal: So, all that being said, I’d like to ask the following questions of the customizing talent on the forum here: 1- Does anyone know what commercially-available paints match the shade of gold that Boss Fight uses on their figures? 2- Does anyone know of a means of commissioning individual custom scale decals? Any and all input (on the questions, the WIP, or whatever) is appreciated. Last edited by CADPAT; 10-14-2018 at 12:39 AM.. |

I was always more of a Dragonlance and Greyhawk fan myself but the figure looks great. Can’t do Forgotten Realms with out some dark elves man!
Keep us posted on the progress.

I don't think the Triple H head necessarily looks like he's not happy enough, but I can imagine he's rolling a lot of misses what with his eyes closed.

LOL yeah. The Boss Fight “Narissa” is certainly a nice-looking figure. Hopefully they’ll also make a male dark elf at some point in the near future, with two copies of that sword the Elf Ranger will be coming with... Will do. Heh, true, but I have other plans for Triple H... |

Looks great. I can't offer any advice re: paint or decals, but my poor 3E mind is blown by clerics with crossbows!
