Thanks! I'm pretty pleased with how it is turning out so far.

Ultimately, I don't think there is a good way to make that possible with the limitations I face with the available print materials, but I'm just crazy enough to have thought about it. Get me a CNC machine for metal stock along with a hot injection mold machine and I'll step up the interactive features.

You jest, but I've already given some thought to whether or not it would be possible to make this guitar able to be strung with wire strand. Playable? No...but possibly able to be strung. Dpends on the wire. I have seen some wire as thin as string and even thinner.

I had copper strands from some 20-gage stranded wire in mind. It's about the thickness of human hair. The challenge is making through-holes of an appropriate diameter and having a way to access the interior of the guitar to poke the wire through in the first place. I could thicken the tuning posts to allow some wire wrapping but securing the wire to the main body would still be tricky and I estimate that probably nobody would even use the feature. So I've pretty much moved past the concept. If I made the back of the guitar a separate piece that you have to glue on, it might work. But who would care?

The 1:18 scale acoustic guitar has now been finalized and is available in both the standard white nylon as well as a high-detail frosted resin material:

I haven't started the case yet. I have an idea for the hinge though, and I am still rolling the whole thing around in my head in the planning stages. By the way, if you want to find a reference image or two for the type of case you have in mind that will save me a step in the decision making.
I haven't been back to 3d modeling anything new for a little while though. Instead I am prepping a set of test prints for some stuff I've been meaning to finalize. I did take a bit of time today to start modeling a booze bottle. It's rough (I spent most of my time so far on the cap), but the basic dimensions and details are there: That's based on a Jack Daniels 1.75L bottle. I'll be modeling a smaller size or two as well and then moving on to some more generically shaped bottles to be printed in the high-detail frosted material for a saloon/bar booze bottle set. The plan is to keep them hollow with separate cap pieces. A little polishing on the outside surface of the bottles should leave them looking reasonably clear and a little paint on the inside can stand in as the booze content (or using a dyed liquid with a wax wad in the top of the bottle might allow the use of the bottles as actual bottles).

Sometimes I just get sidetracked playing around with the renders. This is one of those times...
