So far this one is just a sketch, but hopefully if I post it you guys can shame me into finishing it if I lose my drive.
It's a 3-story, 18"x18" building on a 32"x32" base. Two sides of the perimeter will be fenced, including a sliding security gate and a gate house. The dimensions might still change, but for frame of reference, the windows shown are 3"x3", the ceiling height is about 7 inches, the fence currently stands 6 inches tall, and there is nearly 14 inches of space between the building and the perimeter fence. The building is 28 inches tall at the peak of the roof's stairwell. The gate is 8 inches wide. The colors are just for my reference as to what stock the pieces would be made of. It's not much more than a shell of an idea so far. But because of Capt OG ReadMo's scratch-built desert outpost I finally got off of my but and started pricing out the acrylic I would need for glazing, entry doors, and for the security gate on this build. I have leftover LED strip lighting from a cabinet project I finished a while back, so I plan to install working lights on each floor, in the main entryway, at the roof door, and lighting in the gate house. I plan to put a helipad on the roof with some red marker lights as well. If I get REALLY ambitious I might even install some zone controls so some lights can be turned on while others remain off. I figure it can serve multiple purposes (Extensive Enterprises Headquarters, advanced research lab, Civilian office building under Cobra assault, GI Joe base, etc.). I'm just going to have to balance strength against weight on this thing. If all goes to plan, the foundation and building will be plywood, smoked acrylic will be used for glazing (I might use clear acrylic for the main double-doors), opaque black acrylic will be used for the rolling gate, and aluminum will be used for perimeter fencing with razor wire. I intend to map out some floor plans, to include a front desk with security camera screens, some seating, and a walk-through metal detector all on the ground floor. The next floor will probably be cubicles or just left empty to allow flexible use. And the top floor will probably be an executive suite with a big desk, some plants, statues, and a small weapons cache. The stairs, of course, lead to the helipad.

Are you leaving the back open, or will the back sides have hinged or removable walls?

I like this!
I’ve got grand plans, but the precision holds me back. How do you plan to cut the windows and doors? Got a cnc router? |

Have you considered corrugated plastic (Coroplast)? It is very lightweight, and if glued so that the corrugations are perpendicular incredible strong. Sheets are available at Home Depot/Lowes if you are interested in playing around with the material. The grain can be quite visible, so exposed surfaces can be covered in paper/printed media (glued with gluestick). It can be glued together with superglue (there is also a special glue if a extra strong bond is needed) and can also be bolted together quite readily.

Some ideas for building with Coroplast:
Garden Scale Construction - ScaleModelBuildings.com It is also possible to cut one of the two surface films and make folds. There is a precision tool for precision exact cuts of on or two films. I quite like the idea of bolting a building together as this aides in the storage aspect of a building/playset. https://www.sawtrax.com/category/coro-claws The pins are quite interesting. Hair pins should also work! Also some info on cutting and gluing: https://www.christinedemerchant.com/...ng-gluing.html Last edited by Bubbavader; 01-30-2018 at 11:27 PM.. |

I added some scale figures and a scale VAMP to see how it all fits:
