I'm glad you guys like it. I'm struggling through the paint job on it right now. My painting skills were never very good, but it seems the years of not painting have made me even worse. It's still in-progress, so not all of the colors are final (and there is some paint slop that I will touch up) but the overall craftsmanship of this paint job won't be getting much better. It'll be good enough for the kids though:
My crappy paint job (WIP): And for overall scale: The actual palm scanner is pretty well sized for Joes: And the keypad looks about right as well:

I haven't done much at all in this in months. I blame all of you, frankly, so to get you back on track, here are some renders of the exterior lighting sconces:
Front: Back: The top protrusion is where the wiring will feed through, AND what will keep the sconce from rotating around the single mounting screw (the hole for which you see on the bottom half of the backplate). Basically, I will have to drill two holes in my wall material:
After that, I position the sconce on the wall material and screw a single screw into the sconce from the opposite side of the wall so all attachment structure is hidden from view. If my design works as planned, the sconce will accommodate up to a 5mm LED. A test print is currently pending so I'll post some demo shots once I get one prepped and wired up.

That scanner turned out nice. I don't think your paint apps are all that bad. Just need some touching up and maybe a wash around some areas to accent the raised areas.
I can't wait to see the building efface. I think modular dioramas like this are the way to go! Jason |

My sconces arrived. They need some paint and some light obstruction so they don't glow so badly, but the design itself seems to be good:
Wiring pass-through channel: LED in place: And with dimmed and full-blast illumination:

This is a great idea/design. So many play options. I loved using my sisters dollhouse as a base to attack, defend, etc with my Joes as a kid. I'm also a fan of the scale. It doesn't look too big to keep in a closet or move around but large enough to have some Joes rappel down the side. Really great Zap.
BTW I took your advice and got some of the retro joes for my kids. They do love them. Especially cobra commander! Not sure why. Cool look and name maybe? But his helmet is gone, Roadblocks one hand is gone, and all the articulation is a little much for the youngest. All their legs and ankles are twisted around LOL But they are having a blast with them.
