UPDATED 7/13/2011
I was looking at my musty, old, and moldy Thunder Machine and thought, Why not! So I took the beast apart and started this little project. I will be starting with simple cleaning and then I will work into the actual painting update of this fine vehicle. I will probably go with a slightly different color scheme than the original as well. I will post updates as I move along with it. Started with the dismantling of the Thunder Machine for easy cleaning. She sure was DIRTY!!! Last edited by nerdsgetchicks; 07-13-2011 at 01:29 AM.. |

Next up is the wheels.
These are the best wheels that I have ever seen on a G.I. Joe vehicle. Actual rubber and they come off the rims. The best way to get these off the wheel hub is to push the two tabs together and pull at the same time. Be careful not to pull super hard or you may break these! I peeled all of the stickers off with an x-acto blade and used goo gone to remove any residue.
Now when it came time to cleaning the rubber and plastic of the rims, I chose simple soap and water for the better part of the dusty areas. I then used ArmorAll, q-tips, and a sponge to give it that Dreadnok shine! |

I chose Royal Blue as the main body color. I took a couple pictures because the flash makes the color brighter for some reason.
I am using Fred's brand Quick Drying Interior/Exterior Spray Enamel. Why you ask? I have no freaking idea why I chose this! Probably because it is $1.09 a can! I would also like to mention that the tabs on this part of the vehicle are easily broken. I broke the left one off and had to reattach it with super glue. It really isn't that critical because of the two tabs that are on the bottom portion of the vehicle as well. It should hold when put back together. |

Starting to think that an all black Thunder Machine would be pretty cool as well.

You made me want to restore mine. I was thinking of selling it but now maybe I will just work on it alt although mine is missing some parts.
