Made a little more progress this morning. Built the rear cover and painted it blue, looking more like Optimus all the time. |

Still working on the building, I've been quiet because there's nothing to show that's all that exciting, 3 more solid brick panels done and 3 to go. Will probably cut doors and windows in a few of them.

My wife picked up some of the black elmers board today. She had me build deviders in a couple of decorative boxes. Afterwards I messed around and started experimenting with it. I forgot about how you mentioned it warping. Do you put the minwax on the back "papered" side, or over the exposed foam to prevent the warp? Cause it seemed to want to warp as soon as I took it out of water and removed the paper. I was only working with a 5x5 inch piece and can see it cause problems with a larger piece.
Anyways, I like the bare texture just fine, kinda looks like stucco, I'm gonna build a small dio photo booth for when I'm done with my Jungle Cat. And I thank you again for sharing this process! If not for you I would be taking pics of my finished project on a dreary kitchen table, haha. |

As far as the minwax, I've been applying it to both sides before painting, it soaks into the paper and makes it VERY sturdy but also seems to stiffen the foam considerably. The Elmer's board removing the paper seems much more difficult than the Dollar Tree board. |

I went ahead and started working with it. I watched a few YouTube how to videos and decided to leave the paper on. I'm Making a two story "corner" style building dio. I ran out of board quick haha. Anyways, after I mess with this project for a bit then I'll try removing the paper if the results don't come out the way I like. I'm just scared of the warping lol.

Corner caps! bought some corner molding at Home Depot, 88 cents per foot comes in a 12 foot piece, cut it in half at the store so it would fit in my car. Brought it home cut the first piece and threw some gray paint on it. I think it's going to work!
