Yeah I'm planning on some sort of corner caps. Was thinking a thick poster board or cardboard painted gray and weathered to look like concrete.

Were you planning on adding something at the corner of 2 walls to hide the break? Was thinking you could probably make a raised veneer or trim for the outside & inside, which also has magnets attached at the same locations, & they will hold the structure together from both sides without the need for corner brackets. See picks for examples. I guess you can use heavy card stock scored to make a 90 bend (for concrete), or 2 strips of the foam board angle cut & glued at a 90 bend (for brick). Just a thought if you haven't already considered. Awesome work so far.

Had some things to do didn't get much done but had to take a quick photo to keep myself inspired. This is so much fun!
I did cut the roof and front for the trailer just haven't glued the front on yet, I want the roof to be removable, so will probably do something similar to the delivery van.

I'm going to build another delivery van too, and I plan to make a step by step tutorial as I do. I know there are those out there scoffing at my material choice. But the winter is lean time for a Nashville musician. I have about $30 total in supplies. I watched a YouTube video on making cheap silicon molds, I may give it a whirl and see if I can produce a mold from the foam. It would be awesome if I could carve in foam and end up with a resin casting. |

They restocked the magnets! So panels will resume tomorrow, picked up some tiny hinges and made doors for the trailer today. They aren't glued in place yet, still have some finish work to do on the edges before I make them permenant. Also making some ramps that will store under the trailer.

Wow amazing and fun project! That semi is coming along nicely, I love the doors.
Any lessons learned on things you would of done differently if you were starting the project over?

Still have good looking corner caps to figure out, also solid connection for roof and flooring when there isn't an adjoining wall for support. Have to figure out a latch for trailer doors may go the simple route and just use a jewelry box clasp amidst some purely cosmetic dowels to look like a more conventional trailer latch. Usually only have a couple days per week to work on this stuff but all in all it's coming together. |

A little update. Using aluminum tape to hide the corrugated edges on the trailer and printed out some textures for the inside. Also fabricated some retractable landing gear for the trailer, went with a simple more toy-like flip up style built out of basswood. Haven't glued down the printed out texture yet still tweaking measurements to get a good fit. Made the texture from a photo and flipped it in photoshop to make a near seamless pattern. Anyway, on with the pics.

Your foamwork is top notch, then you break out that trailer! Need to get me some corrugated plastic. Would make sweet tents for my Adventure Team.

Squash! Thank you so much man. Yeah corrugated plastic has been a Godsend cuts really easy and hot glue holds it really well, I'm using the Gorilla brand glue sticks, like 3 bucks for a bag of 30 sticks holds quickly and makes one heck of a sturdy bond. I'm using a low temp glue gun so before the glue hardens I can smooth it down with my finger, also the low temp gun won't melt the foam in foam board. I plan to use it to glue LOTS of stuff together, WAY stronger than PVA and Super Glue. |
