Lol, I do see the resemblance. Hoping to have it not look like the Thundertank when it's done.
Was really hoping to get 1 more update in, but couldn't, currently in Iowa hoping to beat an eastbound storm. Can't say when the next update will be, but hoping it's within a few weeks depending on when internet gets installed at the new place.

Very nice so far. I get the feel of the Starship Troopers animated series where they pieced together some vehicles for a mission to capture a bug.

Dude that thing is crazy i myself would leave the back off of it off ,it looks fine with just the front and i would leave the claws off as well makes it look to cartoonish . Otherwise you have a solid looking custom .

Thanks folks!! For now, gonna keep working on both front and back pieces. Still may just go with the front, but depends on how i beef it up. Claws are definitely going bye bye, with those, no matter what I do, still looks like a thundertank.

About damn time I updated this. First few will be from just before moving back across country:
First had started cutting pieces so the back could articulate more. Hated it, so that piece is glued back and I'm going to attempt extending the joint: Threw a panel on the front to cover where I cut out the old gun: Just checking to see how to mount the canopy: Started to box in the cockpit area and completely removed the rear details as a whole, may want it use it elsewhere, so why destroy the piece? Anyway, needed a more even surface to mount the canopy hinges: After a month and 2000 miles from last touching this thing, I think I figured out how to open the damn canopy! Originally wanted it to slide, but I just can't figure that out for this, so after lots of parts hunting in large containers, came up with this: Just trying to figure out how to fill the space in the back so it's not so plain looking: And last up for now, the very beginning of extending the joint. I know, it looks like crap at the moment. Here's to hoping it doesn't remain that way.

Canopy hinge is looking great. Really like that it's extended to the rear and adds that exaggerated look when opened.
Nicely done on your filler pieces, so well cut and fit. Extended pivot should work out. |
