I've always wanted to scratch built something on a large scale but I didn't have the space available. (..and I can't afford a Flagg, so I'll just build an escort which is smaller compared to the Flagg =)
Now that I've moved to a better location with a large work area available, it's time to put into reality what I've been planning for 2-3+ years and what perfect timing wherein the Philippine TRU's are starting to release the True Heroes Sentinel Submarine (good for Cobra... and now they have a formidable weapon to stalk the Flagg =) My goal is to scratch build a GI Joe "compacted size" Ticonderoga Class Cruiser, with a complement of 2 helicopters =) Why the TICO Class? USS Flagg looks kind of oldish, so I'll give it an oldish type escort =) The size? Not sure on the final dimensions yet but I'm planning it not to be longer/taller than the USS Flagg, would be awkward to see it towering over the Flagg =) Going to be a long build because I'm only mostly free during day-offs... but anyway "A Journey of a Thousand Miles starts with a single step" =) Actual Real life size and GI Joe Compacted size which is the look I'm going for =) |

I would look for a actual model & build that to help you plan out the steps you need to take to make your "dream" a reality . I commend you brother, I've thought/dreamt of this for a long time myself, but sadly finances & space are just not available for such a ambitious project- good luck !!

SAS@ Thanks SAS! =)
AMF@ Thanks! First subscriber haha! Yay =D azslogan@ Yup, indeed challenging =) I promise to post progress pics at least once a week =) navyviper@ Thanks! Been planning this for years now. All that I was lacking was the space =) I used to live in a 22sq meter Studio unit cramped with all my boxed stuff. Now that I've moved and have a lot of space, I ready to go! I already have a model kit and using it as reference =) I's the 1/350 BUNKER HILL by Dragon Models. I used it as a guide to what seems to be redundant on the ship and was able to shorten it in pics though) to producemy pic posted above =) Anyway, I'm currently doing a mock-up of the flor plan of the hanger + Flight deck because this will definitely dctate how long the final ship will be. TomO@ Thanks!
Jones boys@ Thanks! I've been waiting for somebody to build one here at hisstank... so I gess I'll be the first in the hope that others will follow haha! =D Pulled out the Rotary Wing complement of my Cruiser =) Rotary Wing - 2x Blackhawk Helicopters courtesy of Daniel which I got a year ago =) Apologies for the dust =p I also didn't realize until I looked at the photo that somebody was aboard the 2nd Blackhawk. Will paint and (convert?) to Seahawk specs in the future. I'll probably jump from Cruiser to Seahawk mods from time to time, depending on my mood which to build =) EDIT: Both are complete, the pieces are stowed away in a baggie safe and sound =) Last edited by gian7675; 09-17-2014 at 10:22 PM.. |
