A little over a year ago, I started a major project, creating a Strike Group for my USS Flagg. This included a scratch built Destroyer to be "Joe" scale with the Flagg. What this means is that I figured the length of the ship (about half the length of the Flagg) and then roughed out the basic shape and what key play areas for the ship to display figures on it. Naturally, a true scale ship would be huge, most likely longer than the USS Flagg toy, so certain redesigns were needed, like the H-pad is for a Skyhawk instead of a larger Seahawk chopper. Here is a foam board mock up I started:
In any case, good luck with your project.

SAS@ hey that's nice! Any WIPS of the Blackhawk? =)
Jedi Master Ben@ Thanks for the info =) Gave me some ideas =) I recognize the superstructure as that belonging to more modern Aegis Cruisers/Destroyers. Reminds me of the USS Samson in Battleship =) I might sacrifice some details by making some part of the tail of the BH hanging out or I'll do something innovative =) Anyway, still in the planning stage. During work days (Wednesday to Sunday) I can only do some "Planning/designing". Day-offs 'Mondays and Tuesdays, some plotting and hopefully some building on the actual ship =) Planning "18 September 2014" Found a pic on the internet with the TICO and decks revealed. I might not go into a very detailed Lower deck but might reveal some of TICO's functions. Last edited by gian7675; 09-18-2014 at 08:55 PM.. |

I truly hope you are successful in your endeavors. This hit's close to home/heart for me. See avatar to the left. I deployed on a few of these in my day.
