Even depending on how old you want to make the commander you could include medals from different eras to hint that he's been doing this a while. Cobra Commander is an ego maniacal tyrant of a terrorist organization so I would think that any situation where he came out on top, whether it was an outright fight on the battlefield, political/financial undermining of an opponent or underhanded acts of terrorism he would consider it a great victory and would want something to treasure that moment. Why not take from the leaders of the worlds armies their badges of pride and accomplishments and wear it as a sign of his success and their failure?

Well, GI Joe customizer "Starviper" has created some rather lovely Cobra decorations, complete with descriptions, appearances, and backstories, for some of his customs. He was even gracious enough to allow me to use them in a fic of mine, too.
And...it's not exactly a high point of the franchise, but an actual canon Cobra decoration was seen in the DiC episode "An Officer and a Viperman," the "Award of the Distinguished Two-Headed Serpent." The qualification being "treachery, deceit, all-around sneakiness" of high order. (It also made little cartoony "ploink!" noises when pinned to a uniform. Perhaps, not unlike Victoria Crosses being cast from the remains of cannons captured at Sevastopol, the DTHSes were forged from the remains of some 1980/90s childrens programming that the series defeated in the ratings.) |

I would guess they would be all he is not.
bravery leadership trustworthy I think he would have mostly "realistic" awards, nothing like "most evil leader" or "best killer" I see him as feeling deserving of the honors that the real world militaries bestow on soldiers. but, ones he may come up with superior specimen military brilliance |
