The joint compound is a ways off still. And I have a lot better luck using the foamcore for brick and block detail. I use a ball of aluminum foil and roll it around randomly. Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions. Keep 'em coming!

This is my village perimeter wall. It's foam core with the paper removed. They sell it at Dollar Tree and it's perfect because the paper backing peels right off. I drew the grid lines, then individually re drew them to be more handmade looking. I rolled a ball of aluminum foil all over it then drew some random cracks ans stress lines it. Then of course put down the base coat of paint.

I want to make some custom 'insurgents' for the Joe team to fight but they would be led, trained and funded by Cobra Commander. I'll have to track lots of Raiders of the Lost Ark figures.

you should get a bag of light weight joint compound from home depot or lowes and coat the surface of the buildings. It gives it a stucco like exterior or you can sculpt a brick pattern in it before it dries. Then you can paint or stain it any color. The best part is a bag goes a long way and it is relatively cheap.
yes!!

You could also use cloth, the problem with the Raiders of the Lost Ark figures is that they cannot bend there knees.
