This is my first custom vehicle of any signifcance.
I started with an Iron Man Firestrike Assault Jet from Avengers ![]() ![]() The first step is pretty basic: Just paint the wings, most of these come unattached. The rear and forward airfoil can be removed pretty easily by using a small phillips screwdriver to separate the top and bottom of the toy's chassis. In order to pay better homage to the skyhawk I needed helicopter skies. The cheapest I could get was a set from an original Cobra Fang helicopter. The rear stabilizing wings also serve as landing gear. With the skids this becomes unnecessary so I flipped them, painted some additional detail, and used a dremel and exacto knife to cut out the area between the spring-looking things and what used to be landing skids. ![]() I took 2 .30 cal machine guns (that usually come with Roadblock). I cut off the handle on the back and using a 1/16" dremel attachment I cut 2 small holes in the bottom of the craft under the pilot's feet. I used the pegs already on the guns so they still swivle and can be removed if necessary. ![]() The landing skids are currently only super glued on there. I was thinking of securing them better with green stuff or something. ![]() The other option I was thinking was removing the sculpted wheel on the retrctable landing gear and using that as a bomb bay and putting a small bomb in there. So here are some photos for your enjoyment! Yo Joe, az! Last edited by azoric; 04-01-2013 at 11:35 PM.. |

Great job.
It actually solves some of the issues with the Skyhawk, which is my favorite Joe plane. When there Skyhawk's jets are rotated back, there's nothing to really keep it aloft, but you solved that issue with this since the fans can always point down and there's a jet in the back to provide thrust. Like it.

Hmm I was thinking IG due to the red and gold already there, but I'm liking the sky hawk mk2. The sky striker could probably donate some spare decals.

Great idea on the sky striker decals. I could combine that with the cobra stickers skyhawk sheet I plan to order.

If you got access to places like Ross or TJ Maxx I'd check there. I've seen a bunch of vehicles from this line for under $10 at those places.

Looks great, more of a Ghost HAWK than the Ghost HAWK II!
