Ever since getting back into G.I. Joe collecting recently I'd wanted to start doing customs. Never had much time until after the holidays. Up first:
Beachhead I need to finish his pants and do some touch-ups around his torso/arms/webgear. I'm not bothering with the joints since the green I'm using is quite dark and outside of pictures it's not obvious. My first custom which is still on hold yet gave me nothing but grief with painting the joints, so if I can avoid it I will. EDIT: Have started camo on the legs. Duke I have to give credit to Bucky. His Duke custom pretty much inspired me to do this one. However, I did not want to do a carbon copy. Still not sure what else I'm going to add outside of finishing touch-ups on paint. That torso is not the easiest to add accessories/webgear. I'd say he's 90%. I like that Ripcord's legs make him shorter. The original legs are way too long and bland, and this gives Duke more of an edge with the facial sculpt in my mind. Grenades are from Retaliation 3-pack Firefly. I wanted to also use the front part of that belt but after making the green nuances on the torso armor I kinda decided to leave it as is. Flint The Firefly torso I am using is in worse shape than it looked upon opening the package. It was a bitch to crack open and it ended up breaking around the neck peg. I can fix it with some putty and most will be none the wiser... Nonetheless, sucks to have that happen. I most definitely like the Colton arms for Flint. Rock N Roll Did some drilling and fitted the head. Playing with colors and setup to see what I like best. I know blue isn't a color associated with Rock N Roll. However, I have some ideas for a few more customs and the color will help bring everything together. Plus, he's a surfer, so... Tango My first custom attempt. The arm joints had been the bane of my existence and it made me put him on hold I got so tired of getting a good sand and coat of paint that didn't rub. He's an ex-SWAT member from Springfield. For now not aligned with the Joes, but does what he can to assist whenever they are near... that is, if he ever gets his arms back on. Super Agent Since I already have my perfect Snake Eyes commando, I'm using the Amazon Retaliation SE as a base with another head from The Angel Forge (Sculpts looked very good, and I must say they are even better in hand!). Inspired by Solid Snake. More to be added at a later time... Last edited by Broken Rampart; 03-18-2013 at 06:31 PM.. Reason: Adding new pics/projects |

Thanks for the comments, I'm pretty partial to Beachhead and I'm worried about screwing him up (mostly the camo).

I like where you are going with your Duke.
If you want to break up the waist area, I would suggest gluing pouches where a belt should be. |
