I normally don't Post a lot in the way of WIPs... my customizing pace is so slow, it dosen't make a whole lot of sense.
But every so often I like to go through, photograph, and share a number of my WIPs. I've done this once previously, though I only posted it on Joecustoms.com Now as part of the Customs Celebration over the next two weeks, I'm going to try to catalog and share all of my current projects. Your thoughts, critiques, comments, questions, and criticisms are all welcome and appreciated. To save you time and data I've only imbedded one photo...other angles are linked below (If you're interested in them) This one is an idea taken directly from my Friend Pat (Notpicard) Q-Force Barricade (Roadblock) an easy LBC, where Pat used an international helmet...mine is custom cast. Just needs a Q-Force Logo on the chest, may switch the arms out to Vintage and paint the skin to make the tanktop. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8824.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8825.jpg Fridge & his "Face Mace" I don't know...this is some of my randomness... Fridge in his "chicken wing eating jacket" and a Mace of Faces.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8827.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8829.jpg Not sure yet....But I do enjoy customizing test-shots that I get cheap, and I like Gnawgahyde's legs. I just wanted to get a pic of him before I end up customizing the parts. This is a bit of my castings. I was commissioned to make some guns in Black...and wanted to make sure I wouldn't waste any extra resin...so I molded up Blackstar parts...he's an easy head, chest, and crotch. And thanks to the number of Barricade/Gears Repaints available, I can make a number of different color-ways. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8836.jpg I tried to remove some of the factory paint with acetone...it works but not as cleanly as I'd like...its too strong http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8834.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8833.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8832.jpg This is my Night Viper BAT... I like the idea of combining specialties in cobra... I also like the absurd idea of a night amplifier being added to a Robot's head... I can see Cobra, rather than trying to incorporate the Night vision into the Bats, just straping the Night Viper visor on to the BAT head and calling it done. I'm not 100% happy with these...and will probably end up casting the Crotch and thighs...1 so I can color match all the parts, and 2 because I can't find any fodder quality Night Vipers with intact thigh pegs. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8848.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8849.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8851.jpg These next 2 customs were started after looking through Greyryder's Custom threads for too long. This is going to be Predacon's War Steed....I had a name for him...but I wrote it in a note book at work and can't think of it at the moment. I still need to find a Horse/Dinosaur like skull to use here. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8839.jpg This is the Result of Watching the movie Death Race...a LOT. It started with that 3PO body and head in a bag of fodder, an unused set of Yellow Submarine ball joints, and no Cable TV. A bit dissapointed, the super glue accelerator I used, weakend the ball joint sockets...so he doesn't hold together as well as he should. I intended to paint the duel red stripes on his torso like the ones that are on Frankenstein's racing covers. also planned to sculpt the limbs to look "HR Giger techno organic" http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8847.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8845.jpg The Protective rear "Tombstone" can be dropped once it's protection has been depleated. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8843.jpg Result of another Commision, I didn't want to waste Flesh colored Resin....so I made molds for Zombie Parts Zombies also need to protect their Quattos Getting into the Zombie Viper, I wasn't happy that they came with only 1 compound Z container...so I made more. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8863.jpg Lastly, I'm a sucker for Gimmicks...might be why Zartan is one of my Favorite figures EVER. I have plans for a number of different Zartan Color-ways.... I ran out of Rubber to mold anything other than Zartan's flesh parts at the moment...but can still make some options. Glow in the Dark!!!!!!! In Blacklight http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...P/IMG_8857.jpg |

Dude seriously, you could make some mint on those zombie molded pieces alone. Great work on them all though.

I've planned my castings to appeal to more than just me...so selling cast parts is at the back of my mind...I just don't know about the business model. Selling parts, I feel if an order isn't over $20, it's not really worth my time... all the back end work and a trip to the PO... I don't really want to set up a store like Raginspoon or Alyosha. I think I'm happier taking Casting commissions, and fitting my projects in with the Commission...I'm not compensating myself for the time spent...but the person making the commission is paying for the material costs. |

Happy accident on how close the color came to Production...unfortunately I didn't measure or write down the ratio of dye used :(
But Dr. Mindbender's head glows...he must have been messing around in the lab with some nasty stuff. Next I've been working on a commission using Clear Red resin...so with the extra I've been filling up my BAT molds...because why not. I'm debating if I want to swap out the clear red lower arms for solid black lower arms...and while I like the purple and think it fits...I'd welcome alternate suggestions. more pics. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...h/IMG_8978.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...h/IMG_8979.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...h/IMG_8980.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...h/IMG_8981.jpg Last I also made copies of the Boba Fett/Jump Jetpack Flame stand... |

Love it! Transparent BATs look very cool, and the glowing Mindbender head is just creepy...

Very cool, my favorites are the translucent BAT and the zombie parts...tell me, are the zombie wrists articulated? or no?

No...I'd only found the 1 Zombie Viper when I made the molds and wasn't willing to destroy my parts to make the castings articulated.
