2011 Skystriker to F-14 Bombcat (Two Seat Conversion)
It isn't an F-14 unless it has a Radar Intercept Officer - With the Wing Mechanism issue solved - http://youtu.be/ci0i3Sixpck, I couldn't keep the EuroFighter/F-16C Hybrid "Franken-Cockpit". The classic version Seats from the original Skystriker are being used for fit reference only and new stylized Martin Baker GRU-7A Ejection Seats are being designed. Many ideas are being considered including possibly incorporating BBI parachutes for both provided that space is available. If not, it will likely be 'removable' seats. The Sidestick Control is outta here and I will reposition it as Center Column control as with the actual F-14 Flight Control System. I will however retain the throttle. Part of the existing seat was cut considerably and I will look into redesigning the Flight Control / Avionics panels for both the Pilot and the Radar Intercept Officer. I gutted out panel and frame sections that were at the rear of the cockpit area. The seats were used to determine available space and will be the basis for the size of the new seats. Still in the preliminary design stages. Last edited by SuperFlanker; 08-28-2011 at 01:54 PM.. |

If I can find one at retail I'll follow suit.
I love the Tomcat and hated to see it go. Any other ideas where to get seats for it? |

Looks great, but why not just get a vintage one in the first place?

Really looking forward to this. Your original Bombcat was insane.
I am hoping you'll share how you separated the wings and landing gear.

hi there superflanker!i like the idea you did on skystriker. i am also doing that modification but i used styreen for the consoles and seat..but its nothing compare to yours.the only problem i encountered which i think you knew by now is when combining it with the main body..the squarish block that used to connect the two pieces..is somehow will block those seats.are you planning to fix the cockpit with the main or is it going to be detachable?
im looking forward for your updates! looking nice. nath |

Im building the seats from scratch. The front Avionics panel and the RIO control panel will also be done the same way. I will show progress pics of it. The control sticks will also be redesigned. The initial intent was to keep the basic pilot controls as seen in the photos but I may even redesign those as well. I was pretty satisfied with what I had done on the SU-27 so I am going to take some ideas from that.
