Cool 30mm scale HISS tank (for wargaming)

Ive spent about 14 hours on this so far. I have been scratch building by hand a HISS tank to the scale of 25 - 30mm. For use on tabletop war gaming like Warhammer 40K.

Here are some picks of it so far. It is nearing the half-way point.

The only thing Im not going to hand build are the treads and wheels. Im going to just use a model kit or some other source.

Im not sure if I will make the canopy clear and sculpt a driver, or if I will make it opaque and just paint it to look like glass or mirror it. Im kind of leaning toward the mirrored/chrome idea for the canopy.

The turret is another I will cross when I come to it. Do I want to make it traverse-able? Guns elevate? I dunno. Lets see how long Ive spent on it when I get there.

This is the album link.

Surprised you didn't just track down some Takara Kabaya chocolates. Your route is much cheaper lol looks cool though!

Need - DVD Alpine, DVD Quick Kick, Avatar Scorpion Gunship, any of the 1:18 scale Hellboy figures.(I don't need MOC on these just complete figures with gear).

Adrian Cronauer: Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

The Kabaya candy stuff is something Ive never seen before. I dont know the dimensions of those either.

But this is more satisfying Being able to say "I made that myself".

The GI Joe Kabaya items are almost impossible to find. I've been looking for them. But that is very cool looking. Any plans for different vehicles in the future?

Yes actually. Im a pre '86 JOE guy. So if it was made in 1986 or before I LOVE it! lol So I want to do the Stinger 4WD, the C.L.A.W. glider, Viper glider, the F.A.N.G. copter and the Flight pod (trouble bubble) once the H.I.S.S. is done.

The Viper Glider is going to be super easy, so that's next Then I dont know. Im itching to do the Trouble Bubble just to see if I can do it. THe canopy was a concern then it hits me: Those clear plastic shells that hold toys in gum ball machines!!!

I was fortunate to find a couple of people with those micro figures. I still need a couple (like cobra Commander) but I have enough to make a small force for display purposes at least.

If anyone has the Cobra Commander micro figure, please let me know!

Another 4 hours into it....

It doesnt look like I did much, but I added the canopy and connected the back of the cockpit to the main body. You cant see it but I also began working on the very back.

That should exemplify how tedious and time consuming scratch building is. Take measurements, make paper pattern, test-fit, adjust few times, cut the actual styrene, glue in place.. etc. piece by piece.

Also...

This photo to give an appreciation of just how small I am working

I also want to thank a couple of fellow Ohio members, Ken and Jeff who have graciously helped me to acquire some of the micro figures With what these two have sold me and what I got on ebay recently, I should have a nice little diorama able to be put together. I cant wait to see how close to scale they will be!
