hi guys!
its really hard to find a skystriker here in the philippines, and my resources are poor to acquire one in ebay.but.. i finally got the skystriker scrap to start with my conversion into f14 tomcat ( thanks to daniel of TS118).inspired by a fellow member here in hisstank whose remarkable work really left me in awe and to take the challenge by converting it to an F14 Tomcat..well that means i'll try to make things out from scratch. The carcass itself lacks lots of important thing including the glass canopy, rockets, landing gears etc..hhmm..things i need to work on once i really sit on this side project.anyway, i started by making the tail fins, using 2mm styreen sheet i outlined it directly at the sheet and cut it out.panel lined , scribed then also put some rivet markings...next would be making that round thingie at its base to blend in with that huge turbine ass. No big work as of the moment, this will be just a personal side project since eversince i wanted to have a skystriker or an F14 tomcat that can fit my joes..well things about to come to true. some pics: actual condition bottom.so many scratches and broken pegs missing glass canopy, consoles, seats..arrrgh!! my initial mock up of the tail fin.design was based on an actual F14 tomcat stay tune!this will be a long wip what do you think guys? - nath Last edited by nath_1977; 07-04-2011 at 11:22 PM.. Why bother when a new one is arriving this year? Save yourself a lot of work and trouble.

I love these threads! Looks good so far - keep us posted!
Hey, if you're interested I've got two AIM-7 Sparrow Missiles and two AIM-54 Phoenix Missiles left over from my recent restoration. The Phoenix's have a couple of broken fins, but the Sparrows are intact. |
