I wasn't sure quite where to post this, so I guess this is as good a spot as any. I also don't know if this has been reviewed yet, but here it is again in any case. I recently was intrigued by the Halo Warthog vehicle sold in conjunction with the release of the new Halo: Reach. It seemed a fairly close scale to 1/18th, but since every time I saw it, I didn't have a Joe to test it out on, I took the plunge and TOFTT. I was mildly surprised by the results.
I used three figures to test out the dimensions of the Warthog. At first blush, they seem to almost fit into the seats and the gun, but upon closer examination, some distances seem off. It just seems that the scale maybe a little closer to 1/16 (like Bruder) than 1/18th. Still the seat does seem reclines a bit too much. It seems that with some minor adjustments (steering wheel and M41 canon grips), this vehicle might make a nice customization project for someone or creating a new vehicle for the Joes by cannibalizing this one. I bought it on clearance from Target for $29.99, since the TRU I work at still has these at their $39.99 rate. An interesting find and a possible customizing project. Clean vehicle and a decent purchase. I'll hold onto it and maybe make something out of it in the future.

Hey, thanks for the review. I actually thought about getting one but was scared it's too big. Now I finally see how it looks with Joes in it.

My brother bought me one saturday. I figure I'll just have to go buy some Halo figures for it.

Has anyone tried any Marvel Legends figures in it yet?

The weird thing about the size of this warthog is that it doesn't jive with the size of the halo figures. The Halo figures are 6" tall if I'm not mistaken and they totally would not fit in this vehicle. I don't understand the point of making the warthog in this scale unless they just wanted to create a stand-alone shelf warmer. They are more fitting for Joes than Halo figures. Don't understand the rationale behind the size of this thing.

My Halo 3 figures are pretty much in perfect scale with it. The real scale is somewhere between Halo Reach and Halo 3. Joes are way too small IMO for this. Here are some pics I had of Halo 3 figs,
(Not to take away from your own review, but to compliment it) I did a review a while back on another board, it has some pics to compare scale with Halo Reach figs, Halo 3 and GI Joe. Non-Joe Review - Halo Reach Warthog

Hmmm... I guess that the size of the 6" figures is deceptive. I figured they wouldn't fit at all. Like I said, the Joe figures do seem a tad small. I think this vehicle is a case of a third-party contractor not doing any research before creating the finished product. Guess I might have to part it for other vehicles...

The current McFarlane HALO figures are in the 5-inch scale. It's a real bastard of a decision, since that means the HALO vehicles are incompatible scale-wise with 1:18 figures (like Hasbro's Joes and MU figures) and 1:12 figures (like Marvel Legends) without some modifications.
