According to the file card, Paravipers are meant to HALO jump behind enemy lines, and thereafter disrupt lines of communication.
My questions is, given the mission of the Paravipers, and his current load out, how much of his gear will be discarded after landfall, and how much will be taken to complete the mission: Reason, I ask is that while the Paraviper figures are cool-looking, geared up they are slightly better than a little green army guy in terms of posebility. However, removing all the gear makes the figure too plain. If I knew what he would carry versus what he would leave, I could alter the kit on some-off the extra ParaVipers I have so as to make the mission ready. Alternatively, if I knew what they would carry, I can outfit with an appropriate loadout comprised of the gear from other figures - maybe the new Snake-Eyes. |

I was an Infantry Marine, so I know a lot about combat gear, but I have had absolutely no experience with parachutes, so what I say here may very well be overruled by someone who knows better:
- The goggles, oxygen mask and parachute (the big pouch on his abdomen) would be dropped. The straps around his waist and legs are part of that harness, so they'd be dropped. - The sharp-looking things on his wrists appear to be used for directional "flight" while he is way up in the air, so they'd be ditched when he hit the ground. - He'd probably keep the knee and elbow pads, as they have practical uses in combat. - The ammunition pouches (on his front, below the parachute and on his right hip) would also stay, but they are molded to the parachute harness, so you'd have to cut them off and re-attach them. - The entire backpack appears to contain his air tanks and regulator system (I figure that if it contained a chute, then the air-hoses would all be ripped away when it opened abruptly). - The flippers are used if he is dropped into the water for an airborne/amphibious insertion, but they'd be ditched upon reaching shore. - The helmet would probably be dropped, too. Helmets are great, but this type is a bit too heavy for constant wear once he's on the ground. I'd give him a boonie hat to throw on his head after ditching the helmet. Essentially, you could take ALL the accessories off him, add some type of webgear and a boonie hat, and then give his weapons back to him. I hope this helps! Probably keep the flippers too for crossing water or infiltrating by waterways.

I agree with sarge on this one, the fins are for landing in a water area which happens in cases of a halo jump, ( watch Navy Seals with Micheal Bien). They were put on for that reason as a welcomed accserrory. But in case, they would also have a rebreather system, sort of what roc shipwreck came with.

Pretty much the entire parachute harness, fins, and helmet would be dropped. The pack in the front could be for his mission and might keep the goggles for eye protection.

Basically he'd drop only that which was needed for the jump. Chute, harness rig, O2 bottle, helmet and any cold-weather high-altitude clothing.

this guy would be foocked if he landed in water, I give him a few minutes before he drowned, unless he has a pop out life vest that activates upon hitting water, and evern then, disentangling yourself from that parachute thats sinking around you...like falling on a pool tarp. Lets assume he lands on dry ground, Id go with what Sgt said, web gear and kneepads would/should be all that he's taking....the design sucks because his ammo pouches are attatched to this harness as well. You'll have to use your imagination with that one.

Sarge's explanation was bad-ass.
