Hi everyone! I'm working on a Netflix Bernthal Punisher custom. I took a Mutt head and shaved off the mustache and trimmed down the hair on the sides of his head so that I can paint it to resemble a fade haircut. Can anyone offer tips on painting stubble and/or how to get a fade effect? Thanks!

You can get make-up sponges in packs in the beauty care section of places like Target. squirt a bit of the paint you want onto a pallet and then tear off a chunk and dab the ragged side in the paint. Wipe off the excess on a paper towel since you won't need much, (sorta like dry brushing,) and then lightly dab the sponge on the parts of the face you want stubble. I would suggest not using black paint but a grey and don't keep going over the same area over and over again, if you do you will loose the effect and just end up painting the area a solid color, (less is more). Try it out on a practice head first to see if it works the way you want it to.

Depending on the fit of the neck connections, you may want to use some sculpting putty to shape it before painting. |

dremel it out, if its to loose i do the super glue trick. if its still not to my liking i use the magnet trick. best tip i learned when carving out a head for a neckball is start it on your first beer, not 5th lol

I may be missing it but I had heard some tankers say they modded vintage vehicles for modern joes. The pegs that is. Is there a tutorial on this?

My goal is to paint the 2011 Marauder Lt. Falcon so he'll match the 2018 Joecon Marauders.
I was going to us the "The Army Painter MEGA PAINT SET" and then use the Vallejo Matt Model Color Varnish. This is my first attempt at painting a figure. Does anyone have experience with these products? Would I need to prime the figure first? Is the varnish completely necessary with this brand of paint? Or does anyone have other product recommendations? Thanks! |
