I'd prefer a release of the Joe Tomahawk or Sigma 6 retooled cockpit as they would be better looking then the Silverhawks wannabe thing from ROC...thing slook slike a corss between a Leer jet with no windows and an aluminum falcon...

I have not seen one, nor have I figured out a really good way to do one. That's something I'd love to have, though.

I got the re-tooled TRU Exclusive Republic Gunship as it was on sale for $50 (normally $70) up to 11/26. I originally envisioned as a carrier from my para-vipers (for some reason evertime a SW crosses-over into my Joeverse it automatically becomes a Cobra Vehichle).
However, the mechanics of the re-tooled Gunship and the para-vipers are not very compatible in that I could only get about 4 fully equipped vipers in the bay. I was considering returning it since, as much as I like my para-vipers, they certainly not worth a $50 4-person transport. Before, I could leave though, my bro wanted to watch the ROC movie. Watching it, while I had the Rep. Gunship out made me think of using it as a stand-in for the Howler. Since my Alpha team consists of only the Reactive Armor Joes (ala the Movie), I found the Gunship to be suitable filling the role of the Howler. |

I know its not what everyone would want. I wasnt really digging the whole silverhawks thing myself, but the design has grown on me. I was looking at a side view of it and it looks vaguely similar to the lear jet sold as a PLAYMOBIL item. Ive actually started to paint and map out the VTOL engines. The vehicle showed several times in the movie and its also in the video game along with the new and improved HISS tank. I havent figured out how to take the flooring out without totally frakking it up. I only have the fuselage and wings attatched inverted to the top of it, you can still life off the top ceiling and see inside of it and it has a flip down door/staircase. I have no doubt that this would have been a cool toy had Hasbro made it into the next Joe troop carrier. The design is simple enough and the moving of the jets would really only have to be by hand. Ill put up some pics soon.
Just got finished spraying her down. Doesnt look half bad, I need engines tho. I have a few ideas. The clip on landing gear still works so that is a plus. The Howler is similar to the X-30 with the inverted wings, so these two might have to go together. Last edited by SgtMajor; 11-09-2009 at 01:07 PM.. |

Okay, bear in mnd that this is still a work in progress. I like to make paper/cardboard cutouts of how things are suppose to go. There is alot of detail to be added but I think you will enjoy the overall result. The landing gear are snap on/off and the engines once i put them on, will pivot. Both front set and rear set engines will pivot.

The Howler is the ugliest looking thing that I have ever seen. It does not even fit many troops. I find that the designs for the RoC items seem to lack imagination. This definately is one of them.
