I'm no expert on aviation or gear for pilots, paratroopers etc. and I'd like to know what this is and what it is for.
I was looking to spice up my Wild Bill figure and I'm wondering if this makes any sense at all. any help would be much appreciated. thanks so much! |

I may be wrong, but I believe that's part of a parachute rig.
Without it, the force of the parachute opening would ... hurt... the pilot.

Leg harness is for jumping or rapelling.

yes that is the lower torso harness. In the real world it does not hang that low. The problem is that they are recycling the part from the Star Wars X-wing Pilots, In the movie that part of the costume was hanging down low as an artistic item and not a functional one

It's supposed to be similar to what POC wave 1 SE had.

Ok, lots of great answers, but still: is it a piece of gear suitable for a helicopter pilot? I'm guessing probably not. I want to outfit wild Bill with a relatively real-life accurate Blackhawk heli pilot flight suit. any suggestions as far as lower body harnesses?

maybe the leg gear from airborne/rollbar or pilot destro might suit you better? they're a little shorter, and have a more realistic look.
