Can somebody tell me how in the hell do i go about removing the paint from a clear piece of hard plastic used on the cockpit from the crimson hydra without damaging the plastic in any way. i want to repaint the crimson hydra to a flat black paint sceme, making it look more like the F-117 stealth jet and getting rid of everything red on that jet. everything on the jet would be a straight mask and spray job but the fools at hasbro painted almost all the windows on the cockpit door. I heard of using brake fluid but i would like some advice from some of you expert customizers out there, you know who you are;), or anyone who used this tecnique with any success, how long do i soak it, will it fog, and will paint still stick on it when i'm done removing the paint. i want to avoid anything that would fog up the clear plastic. so come on guy's help me out wit this one please.

you could use an exacto and scrape it off the coat it with future floor polish and the scratches wil be gone,i've never used it on bigger pieces though,on on model car and plane windows

thanx for the advice, but the whole scraping wit an exacto sounds way too risky.

I thought that piece of plastic was molded in clear red. How about just painting over it?

ive heard using watered down acidtone, and slowly washing it down with a sponge, howeve rit could melt or make the plastic smokey... best to test it ona similar item first.
eg 70% water 30% acidtone. |

There are grits of sandpaper so fine that they are basically smooth. Even without scraping, chemicals that wouldn't visibly damage plastic may reduce the clarity of the windows. I've experimented with working down from very fine to superfine grits, to finally a plastic polishing solution, which is a paste with fine sand in it. I've managed to get pretty busted looking windows looking pretty new.
This may be too complicated for what you're doing, or challenging with such a small area, but it's possible. |

Sand paper. Use the finest grade you can then polish the window up. It will take a longer amount of time but it will probably be the safest way. You wont have to worry about whatever you use melting the plastic.
