Hi guys,
I'm stumped. Me and my son have been building a TMNT playset. So far we have the sewer and underground sections finished and are now moving to the above ground. My question to everyone, is there a good process to make plywood look like metal for a warehouse type building. The build will sit on top (see pictures) and will be open on 2 sides similar to the vintage Ghostbusters firehouse. I know I could attach metal to the board but keep in mind this is actually to be played with and my fear is my son could cut himself. Thoughts? |

I will say it's easiest to attach styrene sheets to the outside of your plywood and paint that. Using actual metal will never look right next to the toys, if that makes sense. |

I'd suggest a veneer of sorts....styrene as it comes in many styles and easily workable and many glues/paints work with it. Other than that, perhaps 3d printed panels, there's ton's of stuff like that on free sites like Thingiverse, but that could be a rabbit hole if you don't already have a printer.
Looking great so far!!!
