This is to generate creativity and to expand on the hobby beyond a paramilitary theme. I posted ideas for 4-person subteams a while ago. Since then I have received some great input, inspiring a different tack on custom groups: The Original 13 envisioned in different genres. Looking at the great customs coming out of the Dime Novel Legend action figure line (also 1:18 scale) someone used a Red Star head for a western cowboy figure. It resembles John Wayne, AKA The Duke. Duke... hmm. Now I am looking at an old west theme for the GI Joe Special Operations team. What if it started earlier in history? For those who remember, the Wild Wild West TV series was based on sort of a black ops team (James West and Artemis Gordon) that reported to the OSS (office of the Secret Service, precursor to the CIA?).
Okay, there is the leading thought. GI Joe started earlier in history. Perhaps even extended to Medieval times (Knights of the Round Table). I would love to get some thoughts on translating key characters from GI Joe/Cobra into those genres, and even some other eras that would work. Also, ideas for existing action figures that would be great foundations for those translations... Be creative.
