Have you ever ordered a cast head and then when you got it it was riddled with holes, really bad mold lines, and extra flash? Yeah, that’s what you’re getting with this product and type of mold. If you’re not using quality materials and a pressure pot for molding and casting, don’t waste your time and money on it unless you enjoy less than stellar casts and spending more time fixing the casts.
And the 3 part mold is a terrible mold style for heads. Most pros use an envelope mold for heads. Less work to make and less mold lines which means less flash to worry about and better results. There isn’t a cheap way to make good to perfect casts. Using cheap materials means cheap results. If you want good to perfect casts, expect to spend about $1000 to get started and a little more to get good at it. Or just get a cast from a good castor and save some time, money, and sanity. If you don’t mind imperfect casts and only need a copy or two, maybe this product is good enough. But if you want a lot of copies or want to copy more than one item, maybe getting the right materials and tools for the job is a better idea. |

I approve of your enthusiasm, but this is a very valid technique for many things. Very good results can be achieved for helmeted heads (and helmets). Perfect for bits and bobs and weapons. The key is flash channels and lots of pressure (video has neither). But yes,you can get better results with toxic materials and expensive equipment (or dineros).
I’ll be getting some materials in a few days and post some results. Last edited by Adventure Fun; 03-15-2019 at 10:20 PM.. |

That's pretty neat but it seems like one of those things where it will take you a few tries to get really good at it.
Won't you lose some accuracy in the mold by pulling the face portion away from the rest of the mold like that? |
