Hi,
I'm new to customizing MTF figures and am in need of advice. Does anyone have any advice for prepping a MTF figure to prevent paint rub? Specifically the shoulders? Does the torso have to cracked and sanded in the shoulder cavities? Any help would be appreciated. |

I use a dremel to shave off the joint on both sides. You want a small gap where it bends. Shave enough so that the arm moves up and down smooth with no snag. After shaving the joint sand it a bit to smooth everything out. Get an exacto knife and clean out any dust in between the joint. Once you have done all the shaving and sanding wash the figure with warm water and dishwasher soap. Use a brush and give it a good scrub. This takes off all the oils that a new figure will have.

Do the shoulders rub within the socket like marvel legends figures? |

They are just like Joes. Dremel with the arm all the way down. Then raise the arm all the way up. The starting point when you raise his arm will have a dremeled portion from when it was down so it gets all the joint. To be sure I also twist it side to side. It sometimes has a part that you missed.

Is Model Masters Acryl straight to plastic the way to go? I have tried a few other products, but they don't seem to work as well as MM or Tamiya straight. (No rattle cans or airbrush for me though).

I use Vallejo and Reaper, but a lot of people like Model Masters. Just make sure it's acrylic.
Straight on to plastic.

I like Model Masters Acryl mostly because I can get a bottle readily cheap at Hobby Lobby. When I first started out I found these tutorials to be immensely helpful.
Custom Action Figure Tutorials Since were on the subject, I've bought MTF legs before, but never a whole figure, do the arms come out easily like legs or do you have to crack the torso?
