So I'm painting up a fodder Hazard Viper for my daughter's birthday as a scientist-type. So if I ever show a shot of my shelves and there's a BRIGHT F'N PINK Hazard Viper on there, you know where it came from.
The catch is that the fodder fig I used didn't come with the mask, hoses, or oxygen tanks. The mask isn't an issue - she and I agreed that we liked a smaller gas mask anyway - but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what to use to replace the tanks. I was thinking of drilling two holes into a spare Blowtorch fire extingusher, but that's really precise work that's probably outside my zone of comfort. |

You could try using a couple of the Compound Z canisters that were originally included with the figure to make replacement air-tanks, if you have them.

Didn't the Rise of Cobra Eel come with a small tank? The version 5 eel.

All those suggestions require drilling a hole too though as the peg on those is on the canister whereas Hazard Viper's peg is on the vest.

does it have to look exactly like a tank? I can think if a few things laying around the house you could kit bash in 5 minutes.
also if you have a harbor freight near you they sell a KO Dremel and a accessory kit with like 100 attachments for almost nothing. if your gonna grow your skills a Dremel will become one of your best friends. a good tip when trying to buzz saw through plastic is to not use the grinder wheel. us the saw blade wheel. you will get a cleaner cut. the grinder wheel will melt the plastic as it cuts, the saw wheel doesn't as much. just bee sure the wheel don't jump put of the cut or you could find a nice gash in the hand holding the piece. if that frightens you harbor freight sells cheap vise's |

I already have a Dremel (but none of my bits seem to be quite small enough for this particular job). And am in Canada, so US stores don't help much.
I actually don't mind the melted plastic, I'm good at clearing it away. I'm used to shaving down ARAH backpacks for 25th figs and such. |
