I've used Finn's head for Bullet-Proof, 2-pack Black Widow's head for Mayday, the General Hux head(2x) for the Crimson Twins, etc.

I've used Hux for a custom of a steel brigade trooper that defected to Cobra.
I used Finn, Poe, Gran Moff Tarkin, Capt Marvel, Volstagg, Sheamus, and Jessica Jones for custom Dreadnoks. I used John Cena as my Action Force Breaker. I used Loki for Crimson Twins. I think the best I've seen is a painted goatee on Poe for Rowdy Roddy Piper, and a painted mustasche on Hux for Cutter.

Somewhere between Rise of Cobra and Retaliation there was a shift away from using separate plastic pieces for hair. (Compare ROC Baroness, impact armor Scarlett and Resolute Scarlett with Renegades Scarlett, Retaliation Lady Jaye and SDCC unmasked white Jinx.)
Lately in the Star Wars line I've seen a reverse shift. There seems to be some innovation in creating seemless interlocking plastic pieces rather than using paint when it comes to hair (and other parts, like gloves and boots - I've been surprised to discover how 5 POA figs are made of FAR more than just 6 pieces). Maybe paint is getting more expensive? It surprised me to discover TLJ Poe's wavy curl was not painted on. I went to work whittling, cut a little too deep, and realized I should have just sanded instead. But I kept going. You can see little ledges in Poe's scalped head that made the hair piece sit perfectly without slipping. Now, hmm what to replace it with... Last edited by ARBCO Avenue; 10-12-2018 at 09:25 AM.. |

While I'm on the subject of well-bonded hair, I posted elsewhere that Black Widow's hair was fairly challenging to remove. Another case illustrating my point that Hasbro seems to be getting better at making the hair interlock in one consistent position. If we get another Baroness or Scarlett at some time in the future, I hope these toys would benefit from this improvement. (yeah, yeah I know guys, GI Joe is dead and GI Joe 3 is unlikely, I know)

The best I have seen is Hux as Wild Bill. I'm waiting for the figs to hit a buck at the Walmort so I can snag some more.
Finn and Poe as Dreadnoks.....interesting.
