For those who have the Quonset military base, the thin and ill fitting printed cardstock floor is without a doubt it's weakest feature. Below is a fairly simple solution I came up with this afternoon. I'm not quite finished, but thought I'd share the progress so far.
While cleaning up some stuff in the shop, I found this large styrene sign I bought at a hardware store and never used. It luckily was a little bigger than the included cardstock floor and fairly thick(I'm guessing around .060 or .080 thick. Simply cut it down to size with a straight edge and blade: The die cut cardstock floor that came with it had the ends notched out around the entryway which left a noticeable gap in the floor near the step up. On the new floor, I opted to make it large enough to fit under the base on all sides: I also wanted the new floor to have the capabilty to attach and detach from the base just in case I wanted to do something different later. I decided to use some thin neodynium magnets left over from another project. I just superglued a couple near the corner edge of each short end: Underneath the base, there are rectangular voids that fortunately a small strip of metal plumber's strapping fit in almost perfectly. This provided a good metal surface for the magnets to attach to. I just cut them the length a little longer than needed and bent down the ends so they provided enough tension to hold itself in without any glue: Now that the floor holds on pretty well. It was time to take it back off and cover up the magnets with some tape. I also decided to take the backside of the blade and scribe a couple of lines in the new floor just for a little extra detail and then lightly sanded and cleaned the whole surface before paint: I did manage to get it painted today, but are waiting for it to dry really good before handling it any further. Hopefully, there will be a final update with more pics within the next few days. Stay tuned...

Thanks, I waited until the price dropped down a bit on Amazon before pulling the trigger. Maybe Big Lots will get them this Christmas.

If you don't want to wait for Big Lots, Wal-mart started carrying these online a little while ago: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Click-N-P...eces/525429665 When I first found them on Wal-Mart's site, they were around $69 so you might want to keep watch to see if the price drops again.

The new floor was sprayed with a combination of gray primers followed by some light passes with a sandy tan and a little black around the edges to give some variation and depth.
The couple of lines I scored in the new floor do show up just a little bit which turned out nice. That's all there is to it. Nothing fancy, but I feel it's a definite improvement over the floor that came with this set.

Very cool upgrade. The worst thing about this set was that stupid floor that was included. Excellent job here.
