Don't know about the Tomahawk, but here's info about the Eaglehawk:
http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...sassembly.html It's pretty easy to disassemble.

I know the tomahawk is glued together. No easy way to do it but use a sharp knife on the seams. Make multiple passes and go slowly and it should be ok. The floor is just kind of in there.

thanks guys. i got it apart. its pegged together with glue, no snaps. i did some research and found that acetone will remove styrene glue. BUT styrene glue works by melting the two plastic sides together.
so what i did is find a section that wasnt glued and poked around. after giving this thing the once over i grabbed some paint thinner and went to town on this thing. i got one of my detailing paint brushes. the super fine ones for doing gauges and dials on dashboards. i dipped it in the thinner and ran it down a section of the seam. i used the small brush to get the glue inside the crack. this way i didnt damage/melt the outside finish of the vehicle. working from the unglued section to a glued section once the thinner softened up that section i pulled it apart and held it there blowing on it to dry the section so it didnt remelt back together. this worked fairly well all the way around except a few spots. the exhaust port in the tail had a TON of glue deep inside i couldnt get to and between the foot glass on the cockpit. i had to put some force into pulling them apart. i had some minor cracking in both spots but it was along the seam and nothing i cant fix with super glue and baby powder or some bondo. so guys it can be done if your careful and patient. i will say i got a bit frustrated when i was pulling it apart bc i couldnt see why it wouldnt open since it was free all the way around. it kind of snapped and exploded. but like i said it turned out to be very minor damage so give it hell! |
