Hello fellow joe fanatics!
I just started collecting the 25th anny figures with my 8 year old son, having grown up with all the original 82-85 joes... In the absence of any playsets for him, I suggested we build a Ranger Station diorama. It's going quite well, and I have been posting our progress on the joedios.com forum. A few folks suggested I post a link here for your easy clicking pleasure. http://www.joedios.com/forums/showth...6&page=1&pp=10 Comments and questions are most welcome! Cheers! ~ Paul. |

Very nice and easy to make. Looks great. One could make Snake Eyes' cabin from issue 31 using those techniques.
Very cool.

Wow! That is so cool! What's even cooler is the fact that you've created this with your son. Way to make an impact on stimulating the creative side of both of you. Kudos to the both of you. Yo Joe!!!

I started by asking him if he wanted to make a single building to use as a cobra base... then he drew it out on a piece of paper. The end result is pretty much like he drew it - except I added the window ;-) We then made a list of the supplies we'd need to construct it and went on a shopping trip after school last Wednesday. As I've never done anything like this before, we did lots of testing (such as the gravel ground etc) and he was the one to decide what texture, color etc. We've both learned quite a bit about making dioramas and have some ideas for a next one. We've spent about 12 hours now together building it. Time well spent, regardless of the outcome. Yesterday afternoon, we had just finished the interior and the roof... and I said "go ahead and setup some Joes in there!"... the look his face - "can I? , Sweet!"... totally made my day. Late last night I setup the dio on the kitchen table... a battle scene with Joes on the inside and Cobra on the exterior... Created a ninja battle on the roof etc... the look on his face this morning was priceless. Makes life worthwhile. Yo Joe! Cheers! ~ Paul. |
