Last weekend I bought this at a garage sale for a quarter. It is listed as a "Boley 1/18 tank from Target 2009", which is the third pic. The turret was missing. The lower part of the toy tank is still in pristine condition and the sound chip still works.

Nice! Anything for a quarter that you make work is a WIN!

What I am thinking about is either making another turret for this OR opening it up and altering the interior to seat my joes. So I would like to know if anybody else here has ever customized a vehicle like this?

What line is this from? I see them on eBay occasionally. It looks like something out of Warhammer 40k.

The closest I've found is that it's made by Target and from 2009. I also thought of Warhammer when I saw this.

I haven't had huge success with customising these types of vehicles, but I can give you some advice based on my mistakes!
When you Dremel the thing open, or make any cuts and then fit new parts, pay extra attention to the new seams. If anything lets down a vehicle custom, it's seeing where the parts where Frankensteined together. Use parts of the same era/style. Sort of jarring when guns are super detailed and the mount they're on isn't. I know a lot of the G.I. No style is rather remedial and simplistic (cheaper moulds I'm guessing) so putting something super speccy on it just looks incongruous. Awesome score though mate, keep it updated on the WIP thread.
