In a few days I will be receiving a star wars figure I intend to use for parts, specifically the arms and legs. And maybe the head. What is the best and safest way to crack open the body without damaging the arms and legs?

For the majority of SW figs you can just boil and pop the arms and legs out. This is true of most of the swivel-waisted figs- you can also feel if the chest is the soft plastic versus the hard plastic they use for ball-jointed waists. If the chest is ball-jointed and hard then crack the torso in a vice or try to jimmy it open with a small flat head screwdriver.

If you gently heat the seam, be careful not to melt it, it will pop open.

Use a blow dryer to warm up parts before pulling apart.

Never use a screwdriver flat head or not . Use a really new and so sharp it will slice your finger open x-acto blade heat the plastic up just a bit . It works every time or boil some water and heat it and release the arms etc . You know you can seperate the upper arm /shoulder from that swivel with just a little slice . It does wonders when you dont want to crack open a chest send it to me and ill crack it for free and send it back . Or just seperate everything for you no charge .

I will have to examine the figure first, but If I can't I will consider sending it to you 280-customs.

The figure came today, and all I had to do was cut at the seams on the sides and the torso popped open. What I needed was the arms: The rest of it will go into my fodder box.
