Here's a question for you guys... when you're painting a 25th figure, do you paint the screws in the legs? I do. I hate checking out an awesome figure and then having my eye get distracted by a silver spot. So I go over the screw and the inside of the opening with a coat of paint.
Anybody else? If not, why?

Depends, to me it looks weird both ways, unpainted or painted a light color...a screw that's painted flesh looks like a scar if I focus on it too much.
Hmmm...filling it in and paint would be the best option, we never see that though do we ? |

I do.
I hate to see the silver too. Sometimes i don't have the exact colour, cos i paint them with enamels -much more durable than acrilics- so i match it with the closest colour. Also, some figures have the screw painted. A simplier way is to burn them, if the figure is dark. Just put a burning matchstick a few centimeters below, and it will "dye" black. The good thing is that it doesn't scratch easily.

It's a relief to see other people have their own hangups with the figs too

I started a thread about something similar when I first joined up here at the Tank, how on the earlier 25th figures, the screw was painted black on figures with black legs, e.g. Destro and Baroness from the first 5 pack, and how on later figures, they stopped doing it. I was just trying to illustrate how it added just a smidgen more realism, and everyone just called me a nitpicky weirdo. Glad to see I'm not alone in this, after all.
Or, to put it simply, Hooray for painted thighscrews! |

the screws don't bother me all that much. Having grown up with the original ARAh figures I guess I just ignore them.
I did like the painted screws on some of the first 25th figures fromt he 5 packs, but ultimately they aren't a bother. As far as realism, I find it hard to justify that on a toy with exposed joints....
