I have never attempted a custom but as a Red Sox fan I just can't stand to have Cutter with that crappy head.
I like the idea of using the alternate comic pack Beachhead head...but where would I get the cap? Did anyone ever cast a good new head? Or possibly try a modified Starting Lineup head? any ideas appreciated.

The helmet is from some starting lineup figure or something that I got in a trade. I removed the hat on the SRO Cutter and just put the helmet on. It actually fits really well already but you can also glue it on so it doesn't accidentally pop off.

That's from McFarlane PlayMakers. You'll run into them at Tuesday Mornings and other such places pretty regularly. They shouldn't be real expensive on ebay either. The only Sox player with a hat (ie in a fielding pose) is Dustin Pedroia. The one above is a helmet. The trouble with Pedroia is the hat is not removable without cutting, so you'd have to dremel it out or just glue it on Cutter, which would probably be better.

And I take that back. They also have Josh Beckett in a hat.

Didn't know they had ones with hats. Think helmet makes sense for Cutter though so I'm quite happy with it.

So I'm assuming the one pictured has had the earpiece removed?
I saw a youtube video where a guy used the hat of one of the Re-play figures of Jeter and somehow replaced the logo. I'd love to use the Playmaker hat but not sure I'm equipped (both mentally and tool wise) to make that mod. How exactly would I go about that?

Is the hat sculpted on the Jeter head? or a glued separate piece?

Our very own Avac has a couple good baseball hats, and there are few routes to go on the logo, waterslide decal, but I noticed recently fingernail decals for fans, they had all the sports all the teams and pretty much the exact size for a joe scale hat

It looks like if you go with the Gracelyn Replays, the hats are removable. On the McFarlane PlayMakers, only the helmets are. Fielding or pitching figures are separate pieces, but glued on.

Unfortunately, it looks like Gracelyn only has David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez, and both have helmets rather than hats. You could get Jeter and put a decal on it. In fact, if you order the figure and send me the hat, I'll be glad to put a waterslide on it and cover the accursed NY logo.
