Just get the chrome. It works with any black basecoat and basically any clear. I've used it before at the body shop I worked at. I used to chrome Heroclix with it. The trick is to do several VERY VERY light coats. On a Vamp sized vehicle, about 6-8 VERY light coats will do it but you MUST spray over black.

I got cheated with one of those supposedly chrome spray. Just silver paint. I bought two cans of varnish (gloss and mate) so i'll try. In any case, ithink it will look more like glass than metal. Quote:
What amazes me, is that the cover is chromed, but still has flexibilty; the first problem in chroming. Quote:
If you made the same mistake than me (and i suspect many others) use it to silver some guns. They look really good. Quote:
Chrome would hold on the softer parts, but the slightlest bend, and it will chip away. I've recently found that there's some painture specifically made for plastic, which apparently also comes in metallic colours: Worth a try, at least for normal colored painture than holds on plastic.

The chrome paint that I see alot of people using on TFW2005 is Alclad 2. I know that Frenzy/Rumble uses these every once in a while. Here is a link.

I checked into having an entire Rom figure chromed a while back, and simply ran out of time before the deadline I had set. There are a few places which offer chrome painting over flex plastics (think car bumpers, helmets, etc...) but it isn't cheap. The costs to do one figure came in at just under $150.
This is the guy I spoke with personally: Coat of Chrome - Don't Paint it Chrome It - Coat of Chrome Also: http://www.goldtouchinc.com As for vehicles, using the vac-metallizing method is perfect, as it's made to work on hard plastics, so Chrome tech usa, Chrome plating service, vacuum metallizing, for plastic on model cars, toys and automotive interior dash pannels. would be perfect, but again it is not cheap. Figure parts are around $7 each or so, and vehicle parts (say the engine cover for a Havoc) are around $30. |

Here are some of the pics of the chrome Firebat I did. I used a Krylon chrome paint that's something of a cross between genuine vac-metal silver and plain old silver paint. It's got much more reflective capacity than silver paint, but it's easily distinguishable from actual Sky Patrol stuff.

Krylon chrome works really well. I found that you have to do a few coats to get the best effect- and you may need to spray it a bit heavy (with longer drying time) for get a more realistic chrome. If you don't spray enough, and all at once for the area, you might get "dust" from it so it loses the mirror like finish.

I'm not a fan of the chrome look, but if I were and wanted to safely customize one of my vehicles, I d go with Krylon
