GI Joe Torso Splitting Guide (easiest method)

This is a guide for anyone that needs help splitting modern era torsos. This is the easiest method I know and it saves me a lot of trouble. You don't need knives or screwdrivers or anything like that, it's quite simple really.
Sorry if this has been posted before. I'm just making a clear guide for those who need it.

here's what you need:
Bench Vise
A sock (any sock will do)
Most importantly, The figure you want to customize.

Step 1.
Place the figure in the sock. This will prevent any parts from shooting across the room. (trust me, I've lost a few torsos because I didn't use the sock) Also if your vise has grooves or any indentations the sock protects the figure from getting any unwanted indentations.

Step 2.
Place the figure in the sock in the vise. Make sure it is vertical and the figure is placed properly in the sock.

Step 3.
Use the vice until the figure cracks. You will know when to stop turning when the figure's torso splits like so......

Hey guys, Shogi here. The following is a list of torsos that presented a problem when cracked. Since many factors go into what causes a cracked torso to have issues (Glue, tools used, etc...) you may have better (or worse) luck with these torsos

ROC (TRU Exclusive) Dial Tone (Torso warped)

25th Tiger Force Duke (The hole in the back WILL snap off of the back due to the glue and construction of the insides)

25th Arctic Snake Eyes (Shoulder stress marks/cracks)

Is there ever any collateral damage, like folding or splitting the "walls" of the torso, when you do this?

Nope, not usually. It splits clean. I've only had damage once when I tried to split a Tiger Force Flint torso. The arms got flattened a little, but it didn't cause any real damage. Only that torso gave me trouble. I'm pretty sure there was way too much glue used on the figure.

I use the same method but use really big channel lock pliers. I've been meaning to put pictures up explaining how I do it. (Oddly enough, with the exact same Wild Bill figure )

A) thanks for sharing, this worked great, no damage to the original figure.

B) It shot half of the torso across the room. Really glad I was leaning away from it.

Did you use the sock? Also did it cover the whole figure?
