This is definitely the best method but I hate how it distorts the shoulders. Wish they would go back to the screw in the backpack hole!

I've been using vice grips and a sock or 2, went well at first, but my last few went badly; so very badly.
The regular vice here at home has rubber surfaces, so the figure just kind of mushes in there without popping. |

Yeah, no one ever seems to mention how badly warped he shoulders are afterwards. This worked twice for me, but only because I suspect the seams weren't freaking welded together as most seem to be. The rest of the time this sucks. It didn't even work after a while, all it was doing was smashing the shoulder disks, so I went my old route of just drilling a little hole by the neck and prying the figure apart.

Does this work on other figures?
I've never tried to take many figures apart. |

My Dad has some home made copper covers that we slip over his vice when we don't want the rough surfaces to mar parts in his shop. I think a cover like that would help protect the figures from the vice, although it looks like the sock works on that.

I have had incredible success with this method, but I have a pair of channel locks that work well. I do wish I had a vise though!

OOOOh, I wouldnt try it on your best ones...but it may. Problem with Star wars is they are generally softer plastic and the body is seamed all the way down on most.
