Hey check out this vice I got at lowes. it was about $22.00 nice little table vice. it's nice enough to leave on your glass table as mine. also matches your Mac book comes in grey!
As you can see from scale pics with ninja dude it's not very big at all. It's also adjustable if you want it side ways you can do so with a twist of the dial at the base. Also has these rubber pads so no harm comes to the arms when you crack them open! Nice clean torso in seconds with no damage! Oh and the bottom of the vice is a suction cup that stick very nice to any surface. If you could go get one best $$$ I have spent. Shop BESSEY 2-3/4" Vacuum Base Vise at Lowes.com |

Just be careful with vises with teeth... I've not wrapped enough and gotten a few teeth marks.
The only torso I've messed up since the very first one I cracked (I used too much pressure and cracked/stress-marked it, argh) is the TRU RoC Dial-Tone... Be careful when splitting her torso, because it's either the tiny shape of it, or the glue they used... But I ruined the first one. Luckily a Tanker sent me a replacement. |

I cracked open a 25th Ripper with my bare hands! Granted, it didn't appear to have a lot of glue holding it together from the inside and it left my hands bruised for a day.

-Dial-tone opened fine, but it had a slight warping (fixed when glued back. -Blue camo Scarlett got completely screwed. The torso got squashed on the sides, so now it can't be re glued, and the shoulder rings that hold arms in place got deformed too. Generally speaking, the vice method works with almost any figure. It's just a matter of physics. The shoulder rings makes pressure on the socket, and the pressure is applied following the rounded shape, so it cracks open. So, be careful with certain torsos. First check the socket. A figure with a deep socket might cause troubles (like Tripwire), or a very flat socket (like 25th Duke) can cause troubles too. Also check the shoulder ring. On a thin arm (like females) could get warped and flattened. Another trick is to get the figure cold first. Put it in the freezer for just a couple minutes, it will crack open easily. If you heat it, the plastic will bend instead of crack.
