I'm going to buy a Dremel tomorrow and was curious if this kind of vise/clamp will work just as well? Wanted to see if I could save a few bucks if it would.

The principal is basically the same, but I've never tried a C Clamp. I basically use a small, cheaper version of a vice similar to this one:
Shop BESSEY 4-1/2" Home Workshop Vise at Lowes.com Since I can clamp mine onto a corner of a table or countertop, I get better leverage with harder to crack torsos(like RoC stuff). |

Last night I cracked two torsos with a big set of channel locks. Sgt. Stone damn near exploded with very little pressure and General Hawk from the LAW broke clean open. As long as you are mindful about the placement there shouldn't be too much difference in using a vice, channel locks or a c-clamp. I made sure the shoulders were snug against the teeth of the channel-locks before I added the pressure - and of course I used a sock to protect everything.
Turns out - Sgt Stone Torso and Legs with General Hawk Arms and a Flint head makes a pretty bad-ass custom ROC Flint. |
