Hey, guys, sorry about the long lapses in checking here. The project is INDEED ALIVE, but has been postponed for another project I had to finish. Too many projects at once. Once shooting wraps up on this project, and it's in the can, I WILL be building this damned carrier, if it kills me. Thanks for following the project, and you'll be hearing from me real soon...

Easiest thing to use for the glass is very thin plexiglass mayb 1/8 inch
It's cheap too. BUT it can be tough to cut without cracking it so be sure you attain proper directions on how to cut the plexiglass. Anything else you use isn't gonna work out right, just won;t look like glass. |

Merry Christmas, fellas. Wanted to give you an update on what's going on in my basement right now:
The only reason I wanted to let you guys know is that I'm currently clearing some work space to get started on v1.1 of my Aircraft Carrier. I will start working on the wooden version very soon now. Maybe the first week in '11. I'll be starting a new thread in the new "In progress" thread or whatever it's called. I'll definitely let you guys know when that starts. Thanks for all you support these long months. I won't let you down!

What happened?
Were you ultimately disappointed with the foam board as a base material?

Yeah. The paint apps would have been the problem. While paint would have stuck to the foam well-enough, the introduction of large amounts of relative weight in a concentrated area (wheels from a jet) would cause the paint to rip up. Carriers aren't much use without planes. Also, with the rigors of movement, there's no way this model would have survived more than one or two moves between locations and my plan was to move it somewhere to photograph it, then move it back. Wasn't going to happen. It would have broken long before that.
