XP-14F Skystriker x2 (I want at least one more, preferably 2)
EA-18G Growler x1 Su-33 Flanker-D x1 [Su-34FN Fullback] x1 (This is another wishful thinking one) XF-30C Tuskegee Conquest x1 [X-30 Conquest] x1 (I saw a non-python patrol one finally) F-22B Raptor x1 [F/A-18 Hornet] x1 (Might not be as tough as I thought) [E-2C Hawkeye] x1 (I don't know how, but I've got some ideas) SH-60 Seahawk x1 [SH-47 Sea Knight II] x1 (If I can find one of those beasts again) I actually just today saw Conquest X-30s at my local Target I considered buying one and painting it. I also saw a plane in a set at KMART that looked like a Harrier jump jet it would look sweet they have F-15s at Toys R us lights and sounds and my Toys R Us has the chinook looking helicopter but I think you should use the TomaHawk it looks more like the marine helicopters. The A-10s sound liek a good idea may I also suggest the Hurricane I love that plane. |

So, I was all ready to start building the aft-center section. The other parts look fine.
Really. They look fine. They look... I can't lie to myself anymore. The bow section is asymmetrical. It's asymmetrical and looks like shit. I tried to ignore it, but I know it's there. Most people probably wouldn't notice, but I KNOW it's there. These two top hull pieces are the same length: 5.25 inches. You can see how off it is. It's only a few inches off, but enough for me to grind my teeth over. Ugh. Ugly shit. Should have handled this a long time ago. Like in the design phase. Continued...

So, I tore that stupid stopgap "T" piece off the top and I'm just bringing it to a point. The glue, which has been dry since Day 5 or so, shears right off with the proper application of force. It takes a decent amount, which is always a good sign.
So, I figured that the hangar deck portion would be enough to hold the hull pieces together. And a cross support would handle any structural side to side motion. So, now I have to wait for this stuff to dry. Oh, well, at least I got it symmetrical now. This is what happens when you're rushing too much. And when certain people don't help out... Shipwreck's a little upset. There's a long story behind why Shockwave (yes ShockWAVE) is hooking up with Lady Jaye... don't ask. Until next time...

So, the bad news is that the tax man hit me pretty hard this year. I have to PAY taxes, so the project may start crawling along here the next two weeks.
The good news is that I will keep working on this project as long as funds allow. And when I don't have anymore money for materials (which is unlikely), then I'm going to work on other aspects of the project, which I should probably work on, too (My Su-33 conversion, the flight deck aircrewmen, the pilots, etc...). Anyways, hope springs eternal. We'll see how it goes tonight.

So, I finished off the bow section hangar deck with a small piece that is long overdue to be placed. This piece has basically been sitting in the corner doing nothing, and pretty much untouched since the first few days. Still, it would help me get a more complete look to what this monster will look like:
The hull of the hangar deck would be the longest pieces I have cut so far. 5.25 inches long and 12 inches tall. Made it a little tricky with a 4 foot T-square, but I managed. I used two smaller scrap pieces for the bow flight deck of the carrier. I also used the natural key to the foam in the connection, mating the male and female parts at the edge, kind of what I plan to do throughout the flight deck, if at all feasible. You can see where the pieces connect if you look really closely... So, I mocked it up together to see what the bow would look like. She looks pretty sweet. I'll finish up gluing the bow together at some point this weekend (or tomorrow) and then see what the two front sections look like together. I did run into one problem that underscores the point to FOLLOW YOUR PLANS. I actually cut the center section of the flight deck too thin where it meets the bow flight deck. Since I cut the bow flight deck correctly (and the center section flight deck was cut to 39 inches and was supposed to be 48 inches) now I have to add some small triangles. It won't be that bad since there is a natural place to support it below, but it just underscores the importance of being careful and not cutting and building too fast. Anyways, until next time...

So, back to the old construction alley! I wanted to finish up the bow. It's strange how when you revisit something like the bow piece (which was the first piece that I made) it seems so much easier now. My techniques are more refined and I actually know what I'm doing now. I kinda felt like I was groping in the dark before.
Anyways, I cut the two tall hull pieces so they would make a flat spot when put together. I'll use this flat spot to create my curved supports for the curved bow of the ship. It looks much more like the bow of a ship. I'm satisfied by this look. I cringe when I think about how it might have looked if I had left the squared off bow. Ugh. Don't even want to think about it. So, I placed the flattop on the bow to hold the very edge of the bow together. I glued it and spread the glue with a scrap piece of foam (like a paintbrush). So, hopefully, she'll hold together. Continued...
