I have a question...How do you open up a torso to get at the arms.
I tried to open up a Croc Master with the screw driver in the back and all I did was wreck his back plastic. I tried to use pliers but could not find a place below his arms to get a grip. What is the real trick?

So far, the only one that has worked on all figures for me is the one with large pliers (Very large) Most people use an actual table vise for this, but if you have large enough pliers and adjust them open enough, it'll work.
Wrap the figure in a sock (Inside the sock so the parts stay contained) squeeze the figure at the shoulders (The sock keeps the teeth from the pliers from digging into the arms) and when you hear/feel the pop, stop sqeezing. |

I'll have to try that.
What I've done so far is use a scalpel or x-acto knife to cut the parts apart under one shoulder, and once you have some give, slide a screwdriver in and pry apart. EDIT: and no, you don't want to know why I have scalpels. |

Get you pliers or vise adjusted & ready. I tape the jaws rather than use a sock. Get a open ziplock bag & a blowdryer. Heat the torso with the blowdryer. Glue strength varies & this will help the torso pop easier. The rest should be done quickly so the torso doesn't get cool. Place the fig like in shogi's pic & put the ziplock bag over everything (when the torso pops, parts can go flying). Squeeze. Some figures will kindly crack & you can pull the torso apart by hand. These had the weakest glue & will likely have more intact pegs. Some will pop violently & will have any number of pegs broken (but that's fine - all you need to reglue is touching surface areas). Some simply will not pop without you crushing the figure's shoulders. And sometimes it simply won't pop at all. I had a Ripper I wanted the arms from & the glued areas ended up being the toughest part of the entire torso. I had to dig cut & pry for days to get those arms & the upper torso was trashed. like Ripper-had-a-grenade-blow-up-in-his-esophagus trashed. Dude has the thickest, hardest plastic in his torso of any fig I've ever opened btw.

CobraCrimson's image above is exactly what I was thinking. How does that work out for you?

I wouldn't recommend using something like this. Threw it in as a joke. I got in trouble at work for using this on a 1/2" bolt/nut. It seems some of the figures are harder to open up than others too, not just by glue stregnth but by the shape of their sides on the chest. I destroyed an UBP H.I.S.S. Driver's upper torso so bad the front and back pieces of his chest won't even allign back to gether.
