Hey guys, first time on the boards, I just started getting into the 3 3/4 scale and picked up an Indiana Jones fig that I know are in the same scale and made by Hasbro, so I'm guessing there's enough similarities. Does anyone know how I can take apart Dovenchko? All I want to do is dye the joints in the shoulders, elbows and knees. Other then that, I want to keep everything in the best condition possible, I'm not doing any swapping.
Thanks for the help guys! Oh, here's a pic of the figure I'm talking about, maybe it follows a template of some joe figs? |

Well, you can boil and pop the knee and elbow joints, but the torso...that's a problem. I don't think it splits like the new Joes, and it's certainly not built the same way.

The problem with the torsos is that they're solid rubber. I tried the vice trick, and all it did was squash the figure. I had to warm it up and cut it in half using an Xacto. So, there's really no way to take them apart without destroying the torso.

Boil and pop works for the entire body. Just boil some water, pour it in a mug, toss the figure in. After 20-30 seconds, pull the figure out and gently pull the arms out, then pull the arms apart, then pull the hands out. There is no reason to split the torso, because unlike 25th Joes, the arms on Indy figs can pull right out once they are soft enough.
The head should come off with a little pressure under the chin. You can also use boil and pop for the legs. The T-crotch actually splits in two, and you will need to split the crotch to get the legs back in when you are done dying/painting. |

what i do is pop off the heads, fill 'em with poster putty until they fit on a joe body. i then throw the rest of the indy figure in its rightful place--the trash.

Poster putty eh? is it efficient or does it come off bad? As in are the heads still as poseable like Joe style w/o falling off?

i prefer using poster putty because it keeps the head from flopping all over, but it still gives a range of motion. Plus, it's easily undone if you decide to go in a different direction.
