Opening Torsos: The Vice Method
i've heard many times at the frustration caused by destroyed figures from trying to get them open, and i myself used to be in that boat...then a fellow member turned me on to this method and i have never looked back...it has NEVER, not once failed me...it has never damaged a figure or me... i have no room in my personal photo account here so i have posted a link to the thread i made at The Terrordrome http://www.theterrordrome.com/forums...hp?f=151&t=725 Last edited by G.I.Eddie; 11-18-2009 at 05:59 PM.. |

Interesting Ed. It's worth a try. I have yet to gouge myself with an x-acto blade, but it is only a matter of time. THX

Hadn't seen this before. Will have to give it a try this weekend. Thanks for the great pix. Some of these tutorials on opening torsos don't have too much detail!

I have recently turned to the method Eddie. As you may have noticed, I have not posted any customs in a while. This is because back in November I punctured/sliced open my left index finger (for the third time) but this time was pretty bad. Superglue was not going to close this wound so I gave myself some sutures and it healed nicely but took awhile. I have been doing a lot of repaints and just recently started back on some more involved customs and hope to post some more work at the beginning of the year. Bottom line is I have switched to the Vice n' Pop method....for the sake of my girlfriend and my digits.

Great tip.
I usually have avoided taking figs apart, because I either hurt myself (badly) or destroy the freakin' figure most of the time. But this looks like it'll work. Thanks for the heads up! |

Yeah, I've used this method several times and it always works perfectly!
No vice needed though... I use channel locks. |
