I'm curious for those of you who are casting your own parts, where do you purchase your silicone & resin? I'm shopping around and would love to know where you all get your stuff? How are the prices?

Smooth-On, Inc. - Mold Making & Casting Materials Rubber, Plastic, Lifecasting, and More
Be sure to make a pressure pot out of a STAINLESS STEEL pressure cooker (DO NOT USE AN ALUMINUM ONE!!!!! IT WILL EXPLODE. Trust me $30 wasted) to help reduce air bubbles. Last edited by RodimusVTS; 06-13-2012 at 01:06 PM.. |

1st Question. Do you have a Pressure Pot & Compressor?
2nd Question. Are you willing to Spend $500 to get yourself set up with a Compressor and Pressure Pot? If you're going to use Pressure continue with the Envelope mold idea. Here is a quick guide on making the molds...How to split glove mold As Jedi Ben said, you best bet would be to add 2 sprues to the shoulders of the vest...these will be the only portion glued to the bottom of your mold box. I would reccommend using Smooth-on's Mold Max 15T to make the mold...I don't have a resin to recommend at this time. If you don't want to invest in the equipment to do casting right, your best bet would be to do a 2 part Squish Mold. here is a quick guide...How to mold slot car |
