This is my first ever custom figure, done at the Customizing class at JoeCon 2010. I stated, as class started (and anyone there can attest to this), that I was striving for mediocrity. I believe that (maybe) I did a little better than that, possibly even average...I will let you decide.
This is a custom character that I dreamed up for my Joeverse. RECON/SCOUT CODE NAME: KILROY File Name: Wirth, Gary Birthplace: Keyport, NJ Primary Speciality: Reconaissance Secondary Speciality: Morale Officer Grade: E-4 KILROY'S grandfather was the GI most responsible for spreading the Kilroy character around Europe in the Second World War. Fascinated by the character, KILROY would sneak out in the middle of the night to paint the cartoon all over town, building his skills in the art of stealth. He was finally caught after turning 18 spray painting the character on the police chief's car. The judge gave him a choice between the Army and jail. GI Joe noticed him and his stealthy abilities and immediately brought him into the team as a scout after he completed his Advanced training. Qualified Expert: M-4 carbine, HK MP5 SD, M-1 Garand, Colt 1911 Auto pistol, M-1A1 Thompson Submachine gun. From Gen. Hawk's files: "KILROY is the Joe team member most wanted by Cobra Commander - not because he's seen as any more dangerous than any other Joe, or because of the valuable intel he's developed. It's simply because he was able to spray paint "Kilroy" on the Commander's personal staff car. How he got to it, we still can't figure out....but the other Joes loved it. He's a great guy with a great personality that everyone likes having around" Recipe - head - Storm Shadow, repainted black torso - from Rich Woodhouse's bin arms - from Rich Woodhouse's bin legs - from Rich Woodhouse's bin vest - from Rich Woodhouse's bin boonie hat - repainted PIT Commando helmet - repainted Desert ambush Duke assault rifle - from Rich Woodhouse's bin, with piece from Law nightstick glued to barrel for a silencer I also cut the peg off the vest and glued it directly to the vest, to make it more of an assault vest than body armor. The item in his left hand is a spray paint can made from pieces of cut up assault rifle from a RoC Shipwreck (I think, I just know it was from Woodhouse's bin...). I plan to replace this with a smoke grenade from Marauder with the spoon cut off. The green paint is a mix, made from a gloss green, flat black, with some medium skin tone and flat white added. I think the color came out well. I kept the camo simple black, and painted the "straps" that connect the holster to the belt, and restraining strap around his thigh. I always hated the "hanging in midair" holsters...
