A few folks commented when I posted the decals I made for the custom Toys R Us True Heroes Freedom Helicopter that they wished they could make decals. I say it's easy!
What you need: 1) Computer (I assume everybody on this board has access to one.) 2) Basic graphics program (Most computers have one.) 3) Ink jet printer 4) Ink jet water slide decal paper - clear and/or white Ink jet printers don't print white, so you will need white paper if you want to print white. Check your local hobby shop. If they don't have it, they probably can get it. If not, run a Google search on "ink jet water slide decals" and several sites where you can order it, pop up. 5) Decal Coating 6) Scissors 7) Water These are just basic graphics to make the custom a little more realistic. Think about the vehicle you're customizing. Scan the image you need. If you don't have an image to scan, run a Google search on the vehicle or a similar vehicle to see what it looks like. Don't over think it. Most images you need can be found on-line. G.I.Joe & Cobra logos are all over the Internet including this Web site. Run a Google search on the "(image you want) images". When you find the image you want, just right-click and save it to your desktop. As long as you're not selling it, it's not stealing. Import it from your desk top to your graphics program and resize it and/or recolor it to your needs. When you have all the graphics you want, just print them out on ink jet water slide decal paper. Tip: If you use white paper, be sure to put a block the color of the surface you're putting the decal on behind your graphic, so it doesn't have a white border or background. Unless it's a graphic than can be cut out exactly not leaving any background. Cut out decal. Apply your water slide decal coating evenly. Coat lightly 3 or 4 times until the sheet and decal have a shine. Allow your decal dry for 2 to 12 hours. Soak your decal in water and remove the backing. Apply the water slip adhesive side of you decal to your clean surface. OR, you can just get sticker paper from Wal-Mart, Target, or any office supply store. It's cheaper and easier, but it doesn't look as good. I will post a pic when I actually do this.
